Inspirational mentor – Kim Jones: Gloucester Women Mentor of the Year
Kim Jones was recognised as an inspirational mentor when she was named Mentor of the Year at the Gloucester Women of the Year Awards 2017.
Inspirational women from Gloucestershire were named in the county awards at a glittering ceremony, and Kim Jones of High Growth Knowledge Company won Mentor of the Year!
Hosted by the Gloucestershire Echo, Gloucester Citizen and Stroud Life, the awards celebrate the hard-working and inspirational women of the county, and were presented by Alex Lovell of BBC Points West and Sarah Pullen, managing director of Trinity Mirror Gloucestershire.
The Mentor of the Year award, sponsored by Smoothelicious, was given for ‘…demonstrating the skills of being a mentor to women. The winner is someone who has gone the extra mile in supporting a colleague or a business and has made a difference in their life or business’.
Described in her nomination as being an inspirational mentor, extremely generous with her time and expertise, and always making sure there is sufficient time in her schedule to allow for mentoring, Kim was described by Alex Lovell as becoming like a ‘critical friend’ to her mentees.
After receiving her award, a delighted Kim said:
“It’s an extraordinarily good feeling to be recognised for many years of mentoring people to achieve their best in business. I have always done it for the pure joy it brings – it is such a rewarding experience being able to help someone succeed in business and in life. A fabulous honour and I’ll continue to support women in the years to come”.
We were also joined by Penny Cox, Intelligent Business Decisions, who – on hearing Kim being named as the winner – very generously supplied the champagne which all our guests enjoyed, toasting Kim’s win in the process.
