Already a successful entrepreneur and owner of a chain of award-winning restaurants, Johan was in the early stages of a new venture when we met and recognised that he needed support to transform the initial concept into a sustainable business. The project was the launch of Q21 Bulk Water, a distributor of Icelandic glacial water to premium brands, and Avalis, Q21’s branded premium still and sparkling water for the hospitality sector.
Our involvement began with the completion of due diligence, moved on to support the development of the business model and strategy, and then continued through to the physical launch of the business. In addition to practical advice, support and mentoring, hgkc introduced Johan to trusted associates for legal and marketing advice to get the project off the ground.
Since that first project, hgkc have developed our relationship with Johan further and provided support on a diverse range of ventures including a wine import business and call centre operations in Albania as well as establishing his own consultancy business, Gallani Consulting. Q21 is now selling 24,000 litres a week to a water cooler company in the Czech Republic, provides the water for a Danish brewer’s organic pilsner who also have distribution rights for the water across Scandinavia and Germany, and supplied to Brewdog for a limited edition beer where purity of taste was important. Avalis is the only water offered in Johan’s chain of restaurants, which pre-lockdown were selling several hundred bottles per month, both to diners and in cases for consumption off-premises. Also, pre-lockdown, 1 million bottles were pre-ordered for the 2020 Glastonbury Festival.
