Advising a family business

As a family run business with 20+ years history in food ingredients, TasteTech hold unique encapsulation technology. Having achieved slow growth in the past, they had aspirations to double business in the next five years. Whilst known for being innovation led, they recognised the need to improve processes for commercialising products and assessing opportunities. The challenge was to be pro-active and engage all their people to ensure progress, delivery and evaluation of long term projects, with improved decision making support to do so.

Using existing insights on the team’s communication styles, we identified the need for improved internal communication and clarity of leadership messages. Through workshops and planning, we developed an innovation strategy, with outcomes, roles, and a framework with measures for full evaluation. This led to an organisational redesign and skills development in the short term with a continued board advisory role in the longer term, including full board reporting and coaching.

The company has successfully restructured and retained staff throughout the process. They have met their revenue growth target and increased profitability year on year, with strategic innovation projects delivered within the planned financial year. Improved stock control and a new sales leadership role are beginning to yield results in new markets.

Our approach is always to tailor the support we provide to meet the needs of clients and the support we gave TasteTech varied greatly from the start to the end of the project. Whether providing a valued second opinion, taking a more practical role to define the strategy, or help to build upon the skills, knowledge and experience of the team, we have been on hand as much or as little as required.

So, whether your company seeks business continuity and growth, intends to pivot towards new markets, or needs to be able to deal with a period of unprecedented change, our team of experts is here to support your journey, every step of the way.

hgkc have helped us invent a whole new way to manage and communicate about our innovation projects – BAU, “the pond”, Blue-sky, horizons, Game Plans and RACI techniques have enabled us to focus on the key projects and direction for our innovation at TasteTech.
